John Muir had said, “The clearest way to the universe is through a forest desert.” The clearest way to discover yourself and appreciate this beautiful world is also by going through a forest. A forest touches a part of you inside that nothing else can. It awakens you to look at everything in its simplest forms. Explore the following forests and start checking them out of your Places to Visit list.
Apricot Valley, China
There are some reasons why we put this at the top of the list. Apricot Valley is the only, the most magical, the most beautiful forest you can look at in the spring. It is about 5,000 acres, full of tall apricot trees that bloom in spring. Looking at this forest from afar, you will feel like you are transported into a fairy tale.
Jiuzhaigou Valley, Sichuan, China
Another treasure that China has to offer is the Jiuzhaigou Valley, located in Sichuan. Not only is it incredibly beautiful with clear, blue lakes and snow-capped mountain peaks, but it is also a reserve for many endangered species of plants and animals such as the Giant Panda.
Kriva Gora, Poland
If you like strange and strange things, but also love nature, this should be your first stop on the journey. This forest has about 100 pine trees that have grown strangely and no one knows why. Imagine a questionnaire with long stems but upside down and then imagine hundreds next to each other all covered with beautiful greenery. This is a crooked forest.
Hot Bear Rainforest, British Columbia, Canada
The name of the forest is given by its most popular inhabited species – the sacred “Bear Spirits”. These bears are Kermode Bears and the creamy looking water makes this huge forest ethereal and beautiful.
Redwood National Park, California, USA
Three of the tallest trees in the world are located in this forest. If you are among tall trees or if you want to drive your car through a tree without any consequences, then you should visit this forest.
Kelp Forest at Monterey Bay Aquarium, California, USA
Now we are talking about an underwater forest in which you can literally dive. You can meet some sea lions while witnessing a very sinister forest. If you do not want to go underwater, then you can choose one of the tallest aquariums in the world, which is the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and explore some beautiful aquatic creatures.
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, Costa Rica
You can walk on a suspension bridge in foggy weather without knowing where the bridge leads you in this forest full of tall trees and rare birds. This forest makes walking on a bridge feel like a beautiful adventure, also in the clouds.
Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, Kyoto, Japan
This is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Japan because of the towering bamboo sticks and the beautiful sounds they make against the wind. If you want to experience these sounds or take pictures, be sure to visit outside of peak hours.
Shaggy Forest, Cameron Highlands, Malaysia
This forest grows in such high altitudes that clouds cover it most of the time. The forest is full of mushroom moss, which is beautifully chopped, and carnivorous plants that look harmless enough to the touch.
Great Otway National Park, Victoria, Australia
With cascading waterfalls, beautiful beaches and vibrant flora and fauna, this forest has everything for all kinds of nature lovers. It is even home to a significant population of lazy koalas that you can pet.
